Annual Powder Puff Game to Be Held Next Week

The game raises money for the Lauren Kelsey Talbot Memorial Foundation, created in honor of a Council Rock North student who passed away in 2005.

 

seniors and juniors will participate in the Seventh Annual Powder Puff game on May 30 to raise money for the Lauren Kelsey Talbot Memorial Foundation.

Felicia Pappas and Kelsey Dumont, 2007 graduates, started the event in honor of their friend Lauren, who was a senior at North when she passed away in 2005 after a car accident.

The game will be held at 3 p.m. at Council Rock North’s stadium. The powder puff teams are comprised of senior females and junior females, who compete for the Powder Puff title.

The Lauren Kelsey Talbot Memorial Foundation scholarship fund supports graduating seniors at Council Rock North and South who have mirrored Lauren's passion and love for friendship, community service and for being an unsung hero in any activity or sport.

In addition the players, many students participate to organize the event each year. Football players volunteer to coach the teams and staff members officiate the event.

Official powder puff t-shirts will be available for sale at the event. There are also raffles, food and beverages. Proceeds from the raffles, concessions, and t-shirt sales go toward the scholarship fund. There is no admission fee and everyone is welcome.

Last year’s powder puff game raised $2,500 for the scholarship fund. To date, the foundation has awarded more than $40,000 in scholarships, according to its website.
