Don't Forget: Tail Waggers Strut is Sunday

The third annual Tail Waggers Strut dog walk and festival will be held this Sunday at Washington Crossing State Park.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will raise money for The Crossings Animal Sanctuary, a nonprofit animal welfare organization. Proceeds from the event will go towards the organization's effort to build and operate a no-kill dog and cat sanctuary.

In the Strut’s first two years, nearly 1,500 animal lovers in Bucks County and the surrounding area walked and attended the festival.  As a result, more than $50,000 was placed in the organization’s Sanctuary Building Fund, according to a press release.

“This year, the goal is to have over 1,000 individuals, families and children walking their dogs and to raise $100,000 in net proceeds,” the release said.

The four-mile walk, which is for participants ages 13 and older, will go along the Delaware Canal.  There will also be a special two-mile walk for children ages 5 to 12. Prizes will be given to the walkers who raise the most pledge money. 

The event’s festival will feature more than 100 vendors, offering pet products and services, crafts and food. Special events, including a K9 demonstration from the Lower Makefield Police Department and the Blessing of the Animals, will occur throughout the day. 

A “Super Adoption” will feature adoptable companion animals from approximately 20 area shelters and rescue organizations. In addition to dogs and cats, bunnies and pigs will be available for adoption.
