The evening will begin with an art show and silent auction in the meetinghouse and conclude with a performance at 7:30 p.m. in Walton Center Auditorium.

“Art for Relief at George School is committed to promoting the idea of local service and connection to the wider community,” said Bryan Silverman, one of the student organizers. “This principle has factored into our decision to once again select a local charity.”

All proceeds from this year's event will go to Philabundance, which serves low-income residents at risk of hunger and malnutrition. The organization gets food directly into the communities through service programs or a network of agencies, which include food cupboards, neighborhood distributions, shelters and emergency kitchens.

“Our choosing Philabundance reflects a concern for the growing, and often unseen, need during the present economic times,” Bryan said. “There are many within our own communities who could benefit from the services Philabundance provides.”

The art show, whose theme is “Freedom from Need,” will feature work produced and donated by students, faculty and friends. The silent auction will include artwork contributed by local professional artists, along with other items donated by local businesses, alumni, and parents. T-shirts also will be sold at the event.
