Giant's 'Candles for Kids' Drive Raises Half a Million Dollars

From Nov. 27 to Dec. 11, Giant customers could purchase a paper candle a checkout and make a $1 donation to support the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

 

Giant supermarkets announced it has raised a record $586,628 in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through its annual “Candles for Kids” holiday campaign.

From Nov. 27 to Dec. 11, customers could purchase a paper candle a checkout and make a $1 donation to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

“This holiday season we were proud to again partner with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, an organization that shares our passion for this cause,” said Rick Herring, Giant president. “Thank you to our customers, associates and vendors who opened up their hearts and wallets to support the youngest residents of our communities this year.”

In the past 15 years, Giant has raised more than $25 million to support seven Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

According the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ website, the organization raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across North America. The money is used where it’s needed the most. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4 billion to support research and training, purchase equipment, etc.
