Golf Outing Raises $10,000 For Housing Group

The Newtown Business and Professional Association golf outing, held Sept. 22 at Northampton Valley Country Club, attracted 50 golfers in support of Bucks County Housing Group's mission, organizers said.

The 11th annual Newtown Business and Professional Association golf outing to support the Bucks County Housing Group raised $10,000 for the organization, event organizers announced last week.

The outing, held Sept. 22 at Northampton Valley Country Club, attracted 50 golfers in support of Bucks County Housing Group’s mission, organizers said. Bucks County Housing Group, founded in 1979, is a nonprofit organization that assists homeless and low-income families with programs that promote self-sufficiency, financial security and permanent housing.

Organizers said they were pleased with the turnout.

“There are many golf outings to attend and we are grateful that we have folks who consistently support this outing,” NBPA President Mick Petrucci said.

Golfers enjoyed cigars donated by Tobacco Leaf in Newtown and pictures of their foursomes donated by Pulse Entertainment. Dinner featured an open bar with silent auction items that included a foursome at Merion Country Club (site of the 2013 PGA Open) and an iPad2.

The winner of the Putting Contest was Matt Hutcheson, who won a trip to Orlando, Fla. “This event is always so much fun and we really appreciate the support from NBPA. They really are out in the community working hard,” said Bucks County Housing Group Development Officer Melissa Mantz.

In 2010, Bucks County Housing Group assisted more than 381 homeless individuals (244 children and 137 adults) at one of five transitional shelters located throughout the county.

In addition, the organization said it provided food to more than 37,000 individuals accessing one of three pantry locations, assisted 15 families secure homeownership, counseled 500 households housing issues, including foreclosure, and assisted 15 homeless families with transportation through the Wheelz2Work program.
