Local Scouts Collect Hundreds Of Toys For Red Cross

Girl Scout Service Unit 620 collected 350 toys, which were donated to the American Red Cross.

 

Girl Scout Service Unit 620 has had a busy holiday season.

The scouts held a toy drive in conjunction with the just before Thanksgiving. More than 300 people attended a holiday movie in exchange for a new toy. The event generated 350 toys to be donated to the American Red Cross.

After the scouts participated in the Newtown Holiday Parade, they hosted a wrapping party in conjunction with the American Red Cross and the American Legion (Morrell Smith Post 440) to wrap all 350 gifts to be donated.

Then on Dec. 15, a few of the scouts attended the American Red Cross' party at the Lowes Hotel in Philadelphia to see the gifts that they collected being delivered to the children. They also set up a craft table and worked with the children to create holiday ornaments. In addition, they met and talked to several prominent people in the Philadelphia community as well as being featured on 6 ABC and Fox 29 News.
