Mary Kate's Legacy 5K Rescheduled Due to Hurricane

The 5K race and one-mile walk was originally scheduled for Sunday but it has been postponed until Oct. 9 due to the threat of Hurricane Irene.

The Category 3 hurricane is estimated to make its way to the East Coast between Saturday evening and Sunday, brining intense rain and wind.

Mary Kate's Legacy Foundation, named in honor of Mary Kate Marlow, was formed to support families of special needs children. This is the second year the foundation has held the 5K to raise money.

The one-mile walk on Oct. 9 starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Green Parrot and the 5K run follows at 10 a.m. A kid’s dash begins at 9:15 a.m. on race day.
