Newtown Rotary Gives Thousands To Area Organizations

The club presented $5,000 to organizations during a lunch meeting Wednesdsay. Then later, at a Borough Council meeting, it offered $1,000 for swings at Linton Memorial Park.

The Newtown Rotary Club gave away $6,000 to various organizations and community projects Wednesday.

During a luncheon meeting at , the club gave away $5,000 to various organizations that serve and aid the community. Then, at a Borough Council meeting later that evening, the club offered up $1,000 for swings at Linton Memorial Park, which is across from on South Lincoln Avenue.

Here are the organizations that the Rotary supported this year: (Each organization received a $500 donation from the club) Newtown Ambulance; ; Robbie Sutton Fund; Newtown Arbor Day; ; Pedals for Progress; Newtown D.A.R.E.; Neighborhood Outreach Foundation; American Red Cross Homeless Shelter; and A Woman’s Place.

The Newtown Rotary Club, founded in 1953, has served the local and international communities for more than 50 years. In 2005, Rotary International celebrated its 100th anniversary.
