“We need your help.  On November 15, 2011 our good friend Chic Thompson was hospitalized due to complications from diabetes.  Unfortunately, this serious condition resulted in the partial amputation of his left leg,” said a letter sent by the benefit organizers.

Thompson, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, is recovering in the Veteran’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  He drives for a living and has been unable to return to work.  “As such, Chic’s hospitalization has resulted in tremendous hardship for himself and his daughter.  Sadly, Chic lost his beloved wife to ovarian cancer five years ago,” the letter said.
