Busy Week of Holiday Events Ahead in Newtown

Newtown's tree lighting and midnight madness shopping event is Friday. Plus, there's a candy cane hunt Saturday and the Holiday Parade on Sunday.

Here's what's going on this week in Newtown:

MONDAY
Newtown Borough's Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall.

TUESDAY
Newtown Township's Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. at the township Municipal Building.

WEDNESDAY
A Holiday Craft Sale will be held Wednesday and Thursday at Bucks County Community College's Newtown Campus. There will be ceramics, glassblowing, jewelry, photography, sculpture and fine woodworking for sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the township Municipal Building.

THURSDAY
Newtown Arts Company's production of "Bridadoon" opens Thursday at the Newtown Theatre. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Performances continue through the weekend. 

Bucks County Community College's Holiday Craft Sale continues Thursday. (See above)

FRIDAY
Newtown Borough's annual Christmas tree lighting will be held Friday at the Newtown Firehouse on Liberty Street. After the tree is lit, the Santa House will open. Plus, it's midnight madness and many downtown shops will stay open late and have specials.

SATURDAY
Newtown Township's annual Candy Cane hunt kicks off at 11 a.m. at Roberts Ridge Park. Santa will officially start the candy cane hunt and there will be refreshments after. Click here for details and to register. 

SUNDAY, DEC. 8
Newtown's annual Holiday Parade will be held at 2 p.m. The parade starts at The Stocking Works on South State Street and travels north to Washington Avenue. From there it goes down Sycamore Street and ends at Durham Road.
