Hiking, camping, even walking your dog through the neighborhood allows increased insight to the many varied species of animals that share our community home. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. The ceremony will be a chance to honor officers who have paid the ultimate price while serving the community. The event corresponds with National Police Week, which goes through May 18. President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 in 1962, declaring May 15 Peace Officers Memorial Day. Later, President Bill Clinton signed a resolution that all flags at government buildings will be flown half-staff on that day. The memorial is open to the public. Newtown Township Police said a resident of Headley reported her Chrysler Town and Country stolen on Monday.
A Chrysler Town and Country was stolen from a driveway on Independence Place sometime overnight Sunday into Monday, according to Newtown Township Police reports. According to police, a resident called shortly after 10 a.m. Monday to report that her vehicle was stolen overnight from her driveway on Independence Place in the Headley development off Newtown Yardley Road. The victim told the responding officer that she was unsure if it was locked. Police entered the vehicle into the national data base for stolen property. While the officer was speaking with the family, he was informed of a suspicious pick up truck that was left unattended nearby. Police determined that the pick up truck was listed as stolen out of New Jersey. The situation …

The one-car accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Monday on 2nd Street Pike in Wrightstown Township.
Newtown Township police responded a report of a one-car accident on 2nd Street Pike in Wrightstown around 9 p.m. Monday. According to police, the car flipped and the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The man was transported by ambulance to Saint Mary Medical Center for treatment of his injuries from the accident. Blood samples were submitted to the crime lab for analysis and charges of DUI are pending the results. The car was heavily damaged and was towed from the scene, police said. Newtown Township Police also reported the following recent items. Someone smashed the window of a New Jersey woman's car and took a purse, containing $100 cash, credit cards, identification and jewelry. The car was parked at Roberts Ridge Saturday afternoon, township police said.
Someone smashed the window of a New Jersey woman’s car Saturday while it was parked at Roberts Ridge Park and stole nearly $1,000 worth of money and valuables, Newtown Township Police said. A woman called police shortly before 6 p.m. and said she returned to her car, which was parked at Roberts Ridge for four hours, and discovered a window had been smashed. Her purse, valued at $350, was taken from the front passenger seat. The victim said the purse contained credit cards, her driver’s license, approximately $100 in cash and jewelry worth $500.
