Steeple View Plans to Come Before Borough Council Tuesday

The Newtown Borough Council on Tuesday will review plans for Steeple View, a mixed-use project at South State and Penn streets.

Newtown Borough Council on Tuesday is expected to weigh in on plans for a mixed-use development on South State Street. The project, called Steeple View, last week received final approval from the Borough's Planning Commission. The Newtown Advance reported that Borough Council will likely vote on the plans at its upcoming meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.  The Steeple View project features a three-story, mixed-use building that will likely feature the state wine and spirits store on the ground level and residential units above. Zoning Board Approves Variances for New State Store

Developer Allan Smith presented preliminary plans to relocate the store to a new building on South State Street in Newtown Borough.

The Newtown Borough Zoning Board approved several variances for a portion of the Steeple View project that would relocate the Wine and Spirits store to South State Street. Newtown-raised developer Allan Smith, who owns the current state store property on Centre Avenue, presented preliminary plans to relocate the store to a new building on South State Street that would meet the current standards the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is looking for. The new building would also feature 13 condos on the second and third floor. The Steeple View team hopes to construct a building that is roughly 213-feet-long. However, 120 feet is the maximum length permitted in that portion of the borough. The group asked for a variance, which was approved. …

Developer Allan Smith is seeking to construct a new 12,000-square-foot wine and spirits store on South State Street.

The developer seeking to construct a new state store on South State Street is in the process of preparing plans for submission, Newtown Borough Solicitor Bill Bolla told council Tuesday.  Bolla provided an update on the status of developer Allan Smith’s proposal to construct a new 12,000-square-foot wine and spirits store. He said Smith has met with the Newtown Borough zoning officer for recommendations. Once the plans are finalized, they will be submitted to the Zoning Hearing Board.   Plans for a new 12,000-square-foot wine and spirits store were presented to Newtown Borough Council Tuesday night. Developer Allan Smith, who owns the current state store property on Centre Avenue, is seeking to relocate it to a building on South State Street that meets the current standards of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Borough Officials: Stocking Works II Hearing Yet to be Rescheduled

The hearing, postponed from March, was supposed to be held in April but has yet to be scheduled, according to Newtown Borough officials.

  A conditional use hearing for a major mixed-use development in Newtown Borough that was postponed from February has yet to be rescheduled, according to borough officials. In December, Borough Council opened the hearing to consider developer Allan Smith's proposal to construct 121 condos, 40,904 square feet of commercial space and below and above ground parking at the former Stockburger Chevrolet site off South State Street. The project, initially known as Stocking Works II, is now called Steeple View. The hearing in December was continued and resumed in January. Don't know the price Michele, I don't think they're disclosing that yet as this is still just conditional use and they'll have to go through land development. A garage is not included, however dedicated underground parking is planned for the residential units.   more ›
