Education Foundation to Honor Two at Annual Award Breakfast

John T. Parry, of The First National Bank and Trust Company of Newtown, and Deborah Moskovitz, Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth director, will be honored at a breakfast on May 15.

The Council Rock Education Foundation will honor two local people who have made "extraordinary contributions" to the district and community at its annual Outstanding Community Partner Award Breakfast. John T. Parry, of The First National Bank and Trust Company of Newtown, and Deborah Moskovitz, Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth director, will be honored at the breakfast on May 15. The breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at The Chancellor Center. Tickets are $30. Parry, a life-long Bucks County resident, is the chairman of the Board of Directors of The First National Bank and Trust Company of Newtown. Richboro Resident Announces Candidacy for School Board

Denise Brooks, a research director and longtime volunteer in the Council Rock School District, is running to represent Region 3 on the Council Rock School Board.

Denise Brooks, a research director and longtime community volunteer, has announced her candidacy for Council Rock School Board’s Region 3. The seat is currently held by Bernadette Heenan. Region 3 includes Northampton voting districts 1, 11 and 15. Brooks has cross filed, which means Republicans and Democrats can vote for her in the primary election on May 21.  Brooks has lived in Northampton Township since 1988. She resides in Richboro with her husband and two children, who are graduates of Council Rock High School South. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Council Rock Education Foundation and the Executive Board of Citizens For Education. Looking for a Christmas gift for your child's teacher? Save time baking or shopping, while at the same time presenting a thoughtful and meaningful gift through Council Rock Education Foundation's Staff Recognition Program. The Staff Recognition program is a chance to say thank you to that special teacher while supporting education within the district.  Donate to CREF online or by mail and provide the name of the teacher you're honoring. Then, when CREF receives your donation, they'll send a student designed recognition card to the individuals that have been honored. All donations made to CREF through this program are tax deducible. Education Foundation Awards $20K

The Council Rock Education Foundation distributed its 2012 grants at the school board meeting Thursday night.

Up from more than $16k last year, the Council Rock Education Foundation (CREF) presented nine grants totaling $20,772.28 at Thursday's Council Rock School Board meeting. CREF is an independent group whose mission is to support programs that enrich education in the district. Education Foundation to Honor Two Local Residents

The Council Rock Education Foundation will honor Dave Callahan and Rick Leonetti Sr at its annual Outstanding Community Partner Award Breakfast on May 31.

  The Council Rock Education Foundation will host its annual Outstanding Community Partner Award Breakfast on May 31 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at The Chancellor Center. Honorees will be Dave Callahan, owner of Newtown Hardware House, and Rick Leonetti Sr., founder of Athletes Helping Athletes.  The focus of Athletes Helping Athletes is to build self-esteem for special needs individuals. The program integrates the special needs students and athletes with the goal of building a special bond. Council Rock Education Foundation Seeking Executive Director

The part-time position has just recently been created, said co-president Marilyn Scarpa.

  The Council Rock Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes programs within the district, is seeking applications for its first-ever paid executive director. The part-time position has just recently been created, said co-president Marilyn Scarpa. According to the job posting, the executive director will work with the foundation’s Board of Directors “to further the critical mission of this organization.”  While the position is part-time, it has the potential to grow, the posting said. “CREF is seeking an individual with strong leadership skills, experience in publicity and public relations and experience in fundraising.”  Those interested in applying should forward a letter of interest, a current resume and three …
