First Night Set for Monday

Events begin at 5 p.m. The cost to attend is $10.

First Night Newtown, the annual New Year's Eve celebration at Council Rock North, will be held Monday starting at 5 p.m. The night will feature live music, kids activities, food and fireworks.  The fireworks kick off around 10 p.m. at Newtown Middle School. The cost to attend it $10. The theme for this year is "D.A.R.E. to Share."Click here for more information. Luminary Sale to Benefit First Night

Luminary kits are being sold to benefit the annual New Year's Eve event. The luminaries will be lit starting 5 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Luminary kits are again being sold to benefit First Night. The luminaries will be lit starting 5 p.m. Christmas Eve. Kits are $15 and include 15 bags, candles and sand. The effort, called "Light up the Night," will raise funds for the annual New Year's Eve celebration at Council Rock North. It is being organized by residents Frank Brassell and John Burke, who is a Borough Council member. Luminaries will be placed approximately every four feet along the curbs and sidewalks in Newtown Borough. To participate, complete the order form (located to the right of this story under "PDFs") by Dec. 19. The supplies will be delivered the week before Christmas. First Night Fundraiser Set for Friday

The fundraiser supports the annual New Year's Eve celebration in Newtown.

First Night organizers are planning a fundraiser this Friday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at The Temperance House. The cost to attend is $20, which includes food and entertainment. The entertainment will be acts from this year's First Night Newtown -- the annual New Year's Eve celebration. There will be wine and samples of beer from Newtown's own Cobblestone Brewing Company. The theme for this year is "D.A.R.E. to Share." "We will be working once again with the local D.A.R.E. program in our schools sponsored by the Newtown Township police and will also be collecting food for families in need," explained First Night organizer Paul Salvatore.

Newtown Gearing Up To Celebrate the New Year

Buttons for First Night, Newtown's annual New Year's Eve celebration, are now for sale at various locations for $10.

  The start of 2012 is right around the corner and Newtown is gearing up to celebrate the New Year. First Night, Newtown’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration, will take place Dec. 31 beginning at 5 p.m. The festivities will be held at Council Rock High School North, with fireworks at Newtown Middle School. Buttons for the event are now on sale for $10 at the following locations: First Federal of Bucks County, First National Bank of Newtown, Newtown Book and Record Exchange, 3rd Federal Bank, Newtown Athletic Club, Action Karate and Shady Book Farm.
