The Newtown Irish Festival will feature live music, Irish dancing, traditional Irish food and more.
The Third Annual Newtown Irish Festival will be held March 15 to 17 at the Green Parrot. It will feature live music, Irish dancing, traditional Irish food and more. The Irish Festival will begin noon on March 15 and will continue through St. Patrick’s Day. According to organizers, there will also be a pre-festival party on March 14 at 8 p.m. featuring Irish singer/songwriter Ray Coleman. The festival will feature an outdoor tent for live music. Performers include: Boys of County Bucks, Clancy’s Pistols, Loose Leaf Trio, Ian Gallagher, Class A Kings, The Seven Band The Zone, Dean Street Duo, and headliners The Naturals and Modern Bliss. Chef Rick Narasaki's Potatoes Futomaki are competing in a national contest sponsored by US Foods.
The Green Parrot's chef, Rick Narasaki, is competing against thousands of his peers in the US Foods Next Top Product contest. Narasaki has entered the restaurant and bar's Potatoes Futomaki appetizer into the contest and is hoping you vote for him. To move to the next round, Rick’s recipe needs to be among the top three determined by fan votes on the US Foods Facebook page. The contest looks to find the next hot food product for US Foods, one of the nation's largest food distributors, to produce and sell to customers around the country. More than 150 runners and walkers took part in the annual charity event Wednesday evening in Newtown.
Dozens of people dressed in running attire donned Santa hats as Christmas music filled the air outside the Green Parrot Bar and Restaurant on Sycamore Street Wednesday evening. Early estimates show that about 150 people participated in Joe Conklin's Christmas in July 5K Benefiting Mary Kate's Legacy Foundation. The Mary Kate's Legacy Foundation was started by Northampton residents Tom and Eileen Marlow after their daughter Mary Kate, passed away in 2005 at the age of 11. Mary Kate was born with Infantile Neuro-axonal Dystrophy, a rare progressive disease. The foundation helps raise funds that go toward helping special needs children in the region. Quizzo extraordinaire Scott Baker has developed quite a following for his pub trivia game Tuesday nights at the Green Parrot.
It’s 7:59 p.m. on a Tuesday night at the Green Parrot. Patrons line the bar, their elbows touching. The high-top tables are full of people who are engaged in excited chatter. After all, it’s Tuesday night and they’re out. What’s not to be happy about? Customers continue to shuffle in, high fiving their friends (soon-to-be teammates) and waving hello to the man of the hour: Scott Baker. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, if it’s Tuesday night at the Green Parrot, it can only mean one thing: Quizzo.
