BCCC Event Honors Japanese Tsunami Victims

Bucks County Community College held a special event Wednesday to raise money for victims of last year's earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

  The room may have been filled with colorful fabrics and vibrant crafts but the reason for the gathering was neither cheerful nor celebratory. On Wednesday, Bucks County Community College presented a special program to raise money for the victims of last year’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan.  The program, called "Remembering Japan: March 11, 2011," began with a harrowing hour-long documentary about the natural disaster. The film was followed by a sale of Japanese-inspired crafts and goods. All proceeds from the sale of the crafts will be donated to the Red Cross fund for the Japanese victims. Professor Carol Smolen, of the Language and Literature Department, said the school wanted to do something to honor Japan after all that its people…

BCCC Event to Raise Money for Japanese Tsunami Victims

The April 18 event will feature a documentary and demonstrations of Japanese music and art. Funds will go to help victims of last year's natural disasters in Japan.

  As part of its Arts at Bucks celebrations, Bucks County Community College is presenting a special program to raise money for the victims of last year’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The program, “Remembering Japan: March 11, 2011,” will be held April 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Newtown campus. The public is invited to attend this free event. The program will begin at 1 p.m. with a screening of a PBS-NOVA documentary about Japan’s killer quake.
