Lingohocken Fire Co. Releases 2012 Report

According to the report, 2012 was the third busiest year in the fire company’s 99-year history.

Lingohocken Fire Company responded to 207 emergencies in 2012, according to an annual report released this month. According to the report, 2012 was the third busiest year in the fire company’s 99-year history. Lingohocken, which serves all of Wrightstown Township and parts of Buckingham and Upper Makefield, responded to 228 emergencies in 2010 and 217 emergencies in 2011. In 2012, the fire company also conducted 29 chief’s investigations and pump details. Lingohocken Fire Co. Elects New Officers

The volunteer fire company that covers parts of Buckingham has chosen new officers.

Lingohocken Fire Company has elected new officers to lead the volunteer fire company. Founded in 1913, the company also will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The elected officers of the fire company for 2013 are: Chief Jakubowski said that after more than 30 years of service as the company's secretary, George Rowe has decided to step down from this role. Rowe has served with the fire company for 51 years, he noted. From its main station in Wycombe and substation in Forest Grove, Lingohocken covers all of Wrightstown Township, parts of Buckingham and Upper Makefield Townships, and portions of these zip codes: Furlong, Jamison, New Hope, Newtown, Pineville, Penns Park, and Rushland. UPDATED: Crews Battle Another Major Fire

Saturday's house fire on Thompson Mill Road was likely accidental in nature, said Lingohocken Fire Company Chief Greg Jakubowski.

Updated at 12:10 p.m. to include information from Greg Jakubowski, Lingohocken Fire Company chief. A third major fire since Thursday occurred Saturday night at a house on Thompson Mill Road in Upper Makefield. Crews from the Newtown Fire Association assisted the Upper Makefield Fire Company and the Lingohocken Fire Company in fighting the dwelling fire, which began around 10:30 p.m.  There were no injuries. According to Lingohocken Fire Company Chief Greg Jakubowski, the fire began at the roof over the garage and spread to the attic and roof over the main house.   Since the home is several miles from the nearest hydrant, additional water tanker apparatus and engines were requested from companies, including Eagle Fire Company of New Hope, …

I can't help but think about the PECO meters that were sparking up around town. They have replaced ours, only after I reported voltage problems throughout our neighborhood. Such a scary thing. I hope the families are OK and can rebuild quickly.   more ›
