Writer Wendy Plump's reading of 'Vow: A Memoir of Marriage (and Other Affairs)' will be held March 7 at 7 p.m.
Nationally acclaimed author Wendy Plump will come to the Newtown Bookshop next month for a reading of her recently-released book "Vow: A Memoir of Marriage (and Other Affairs)." The reading will be held March 7 at 7 p.m. The event is free. "In this extremely well-written, unique, 360-degree look, Plump delivers a searing, confessional story about the challenges of marriage. From the view of both betrayer and betrayed, Plump looks at the ordeal of finding out about infidelity, the recovery, passion, and the daily play that can lead to fulfillment or disillusionment," the Newtown Bookshop says on its Patch event listing. The store has opened under new ownership just a few doors down from its old location in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.
The Newtown Bookshop has reopened in the same shopping center under new ownership. Kathy Morrison, a former employee of the shop, purchased the business from previous owner Christine Godshall. The new location, which is smaller in square footage, is on the other side of the Learning Express. Since it opened its doors a week ago, Morrison said she recognizes many of the same faces coming in to shop. “We’re seeing the same customers come in and some new ones,” she said. The new store, which Morrison said is a little more than half the size of the old location, features books for adults, teens and children. “By year end, we hope to have e-books,” Morrison said. The Newtown Bookshop will be reincarnated. The store, which recently closed its doors, will be opening again in the same shopping center under new ownership. Kathy Morrison, a former employee of the shop, has purchased the business from previous owner Christine Godshall. In an email sent Sunday to the store’s customers, Morrison announced that the shop would be reopening just a few doors down from its old location.
