Latin Restaurant Opening in Newtown

The owner of Florentino’s and Francisco’s on the River is opening a third restaurant in May. It will serve traditional Latin dishes and will be located on Cambridge Lane.

Good news for those of you wishing for more ethnic food options in Newtown: a new restaurant serving Latin food is opening in just a few weeks. Chef Francisco Argueta, owner of Florentino’s and Francisco’s on the River, is opening a third restaurant. It will be called Mamita’s and will serve traditional Latin food from Central and South America. The restaurant will be located on Cambridge Lane, next to Ota-Ya. It will take the spot formerly occupied by La Nuova Vita pizzeria. Argueta’s wife, Jennifer, told Patch they are planning to open May 1. Mamita’s—named after the chef’s mother—will be a kid-friendly BYO serving everything from tacos to paella, enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, empanadas and more.   Patrons will be able to enjoy …

Former Rouget Still Vacant

Rouget closed in July 2011 but the Sycamore Street building remains vacant.

Rouget, an upscale French restaurant, closed nearly two years ago. And yet the Victorian-style building that housed the fine dining location is still vacant. The buiding is located on Sycamore Street in the same parking area as Rita's.  In July 2011, Rouget owner Brian Held told the Newtown Advance he was closing because economic conditions had impacted his business. He has since opened Brian's in Lambertville.  What do you think should come to the former Rouget location?

Mom Mom's Gourmet Take N' Bake is now located at 156 North State Street, next to Newtown Chocolatier.

Same great pizza, new location and better parking. That's what Darlene Longosky, owner of Mom Mom's Gourmet Take N' Bake, wants you to know about her long-time Newtown Borough business. Mom Mom's Gourmet Take N' Bake, formerly called Mom's Bake at Home Pizza, has moved down the street to a new location that offers better parking and more baking space, Longosky explained. The shop used to be located on South State Street next to the Tubby Olive. Mom Mom's (the new name is because Longosky is no longer part of the Mom's Bake at Home franchise) is now located at 156 N State Street, next to the Newtown Chocolatier. The pizza restaurant is located in the portion of the building where the chocolate shop used to make their confections. However, …
