Three home burglaries have been reported in Newtown Grant over the past week.
Newtown Township Police are investigating three home burglaries that have occurred over the past week in Newtown Grant, according to police. The first incident was reported Monday, Nov. 19 on Hyacinth Court. According to police, the resident reported that they left their home around 8 a.m. and came home to find the back door forced open. Police said the resident reported someone was in the house and is compiling a list of stolen items. Then, the night of Nov. 23 – the day after Thanksgiving – a resident of Quince Circle told police that while they were away for a few days, someone forced a side door open and gained entry into their home. Trick-or-treating in the Newtown Grant neighborhood will be held Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. instead.
UPDATE, Wednesday 3 p.m.: In light of the township's decision to postpone trick-or-treating activities until next week, Newtown Grant will hold trick-or-treating on Wed., Nov. 7. Original Story: Due to widespread power outages thanks to Hurricane Sandy, the Newtown Grant HOA Board has decided to postpone trick-or-treating in the neighborhood until Saturday. Trick-or-treating will be held in Newtown Grant that day from 2 to 5 p.m. Newtown Grant residents are asked to spread the word. Many area municipalities have officially postponed the holiday. Newtown Township has not weighed in, saying it's up to the parents to decide. Update: Wednesday, 1:15 p.m. -- Newtown Twp is also postponing trick-or-treating.

If you're a bargain hunter, there's no place you'd rather be this Saturday than at the Newtown Grant Garage Sale. The annual sale will feature more than 125 vendors, who will be selling everything from toys to electronics, books, household goods and much more. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Newtown Grant Rec Center parking lot. New this year is a $1 charge for parking. In the past, explained organizer Brandon Wind, shoppers who parked on Eagle Road would sometimes receive tickets. This year, organizers implemented the new parking system to avoid that. Parking will be offstreet and ample signage will direct shoppers upon arrival. With good weather, anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000 shoppers will likely attend the …

If you like a good deal, then you’ll be in your glory this weekend. Newtown Grant’s annual garage sale will take place at the neighborhood’s Rec Center parking lot this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The rain date is Sunday. Entrances to Newtown Grant are located on Durham and Eagle roads. About 120 different people are expected to sell everything from clothing to children’s toys, furniture, household items, electronics and more, explained Brandon Wind, a resident who helps to organize the sale.
