Trailer Park Developer Mum on Possibility of Townhomes

The township is still awaiting a response from County Builders regarding its willingness to develop townhomes instead of a trailer park on the Newtown Swim Club site.

The developer proposing a trailer park in Newtown has not yet responded to the township's request to consider replacing the current plans with townhomes, Solicitor Jeffrey Garton said Wednesday. County Builders in December filed an application with Newtown Township to construct a 56-pad trailer park at the current Newtown Swim Club site. The proposal was met with resistance from neighboring communities. In response to the public outcry, township officials in January directed its solicitor to reach out to County Builders and see if it would instead consider a townhome plan for the 16-acre site. During Wednesday's Board of Supervisors meeting, board member Phil Calabro asked Garton about the status of the discussions with County Builders …

Newtown Township will pay Superior Turf $41,000 over three years beginning in 2014.

The park, located off Durham Road across the street from Clark Nature Center, has six ball fields. Earlier in February, the supervisors approved spending $40,498 to make necessary improvements to the park so the grass will grow properly on the fields. The township and the contractor, Adams-Bickel …

Ordinance Regulating Trailer Park Size Moves Forward

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors has authorized the jointure solicitor to advertise an ordinance that would change the required acreage for a mobile home park to 25 acres.

Potential trailer parks in Newtown Township will have to follow new guidelines if an ordinance being advertised by the township passes. The ordinance, if passed, wouldn’t have an impact on the current proposal for a trailer park at the Newtown Swim Club. The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on Wednesday authorized the jointure solicitor to advertise an ordinance that would increase the required acreage for a mobile home park from 15 to 25 acres. The jointure governs zoning in Newtown Township, Wrightstown and Upper Makefield. Upper Makefield has authorized advertisement of the ordinance. If Wrightstown does the same, it will come before each township for a vote. The motivation behind the proposed ordinance “is to not have to face the …

Veterans Park Fields to Cost $40K to Repair

The park, which has yet to be opened to the public, will “need significant additional work over time,” Newtown Township Manager Kurt Ferguson said.

Newtown Township will pay more than $40,000 to repair a park that has hardly been used by residents. Township officials say they have to make repairs to the soil and grass at Veterans Park because the contractor for the project has walked away from an unfinished job. The township and the contractor, Adams-Bickel Associates, are currently in litigation over the $2.4 million contract for the park. The park was officially dedicated in May 2011 but because of problems with the quality of the grass, the fields have only been utilized on a limited basis. The park, located off Durham Road across the street from Clark Nature Center, has six ball fields. Township Manager Kurt Ferguson said if the township wants to see the park completed, it will …
