Newtown Township Parks and Recreation will host a summer camp information session Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Newtown Township Municipal Building. The information session will be an opportunity for families to learn about the township's summer program offerings and classes. The directors from Camp Beechtree (ages 4-6), Camp Newtown (grades 1-6), and Teen Camp (grades 6-9) will be there. "Many of our specialty camp instructors will also be on site to answer any questions you may have. We offer specialty camps from robotics to cooking to lacrosse to baseball, and more," according to information from the township. Newtown Township Parks and Recreation hosted a 'Touch a Truck' event Tuesday at the township public works building.
Hundreds of children and their parents turned out Tuesday for a chance to "Touch a Truck." During the free event, kids could touch and climb on a variety of trucks and emergency service vehicles, including a police car, fire truck, ambulance and plows. Newtown Township Parks and Recreation hosted the event. Staff said due to its popularity and success, another may be held as early as the fall.

A 60 percent chance of rain and snow prompted Newtown Township Parks and Recreation to move the free event from Monday to Tuesday.
Newtown Township Parks and Recreation's free Touch a Truck event has been moved from Monday to Tuesday. Parks and Recreation department Program Coordinator Megan Prusienski said a 60 percent chance of rain and snow in the forecast for Monday prompted the change in scheduling. She said in the event of snow, the plows and trucks would need to be on the road and wouldn't be available. The event will be held at the same time and place—1 to 3 p.m. at the Newtown Township Municipal Building parking lot.

The Earth Day celebration will be held April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Core Creek Park in Langhorne.
Newtown Township Parks and Recreation is partnering to host an Earth Day Celebration next month at Core Creek Park in Langhorne. Newtown will join the parks and recreation departments of Middletown Township and Bucks County to host the celebration, which will be held April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature giveaways, green businesses, a Hybrid Septa bus, arts and crafts, inflatable amusements and local nature centers. There will also be electronics recycling, live music and free activities for kids. Newtown Township Parks and Recreation will host Winter in the Park on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Tyler State Park. The event features an old-fashioned country hayride pulled by Belgian draft horses wearing brass sleigh bells. The horses are from A Better Way Farm in Newtown. Attendees can bring a blanket and enjoy a journey throughout the park. After the ride, there will be a bon-fire, hot chocolate, cookies and marshmallows. Registration is required. The deadline to register is one week prior to the event. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the departure time. (Meet at the Boat House area at Tyler State Park.) Hundreds of children ages 3 to 7 came out for Saturday's event in Newtown Township
The 4th Annual Newtown Township Candy Cane Hunt was again a success this year as hundreds of children ages 3 to 7 turned out to participate. The event, held at Roberts Ridge Park, featured a visit from Santa and a chance for kids to find candy canes. The event was organized by Newtown Township Parks and Recreation.

Newtown Township's annual Candy Cane Hunt is Saturday and there are spots left for children ages 3 to 7 to participate. The hunt, organized by Newtown Township Parks and Recreation, kicks off at 11 a.m. at Roberts Ridge Park. It is free but registration is required. Children will be separated into two age groups. Santa will be there to join in the fun. After the hunt, there will be holiday refreshments and prizes. Parents must accompany children. Bring a camera for candid photos with Santa.
