Thief Targets Roberts Ridge Parking Lot, Police Say

Someone smashed the window of a New Jersey woman's car and took a purse, containing $100 cash, credit cards, identification and jewelry. The car was parked at Roberts Ridge Saturday afternoon, township police said.

Someone smashed the window of a New Jersey woman’s car Saturday while it was parked at Roberts Ridge Park and stole nearly $1,000 worth of money and valuables, Newtown Township Police said.  A woman called police shortly before 6 p.m. and said she returned to her car, which was parked at Roberts Ridge for four hours, and discovered a window had been smashed. Her purse, valued at $350, was taken from the front passenger seat. The victim said the purse contained credit cards, her driver’s license, approximately $100 in cash and jewelry worth $500. Last week, police warned residents about a “roaming gang of transient thieves” that is targeting Newtown area fitness centers, day cares and parks to steal valuables from parked cars. According to …

Attempted Bank Robber Told Teller He Was 'Desperate,' Police Say

John L. Butler III told the teller at TD Bank he had a weapon and was desperate, police said. He was later taken into custody outside of Saladworks and charged with robbery.

The man who attempted to rob the TD Bank Thursday morning told the teller he had a weapon and was desperate, police said. He left the bank on foot without any money after the teller told him she didn’t have any cash, according to details provided by the police. He didn’t get very far, though. Police said they located him outside of Saladworks in the nearby shopping center and took him into custody without incident. The man, John L. Butler III, 71, was arrested for the attempted bank robbery, which occurred at 8:30 a.m., police said. His last known place of residence is Baltimore, Md., but he told police that he had no fixed address or money and was desperate. Bank Robbery Attempt Ends in Arrest, Police Say

According to Newtown Township Police Department, John L. Butler was arrested after attempting to rob the TD Bank on West Road.

A man who attempted to rob the TD Bank in Newtown Township Thursday morning was arrested while still in the shopping center, Newtown Township Police said. John L. Butler III has been arrested by Newtown Township police for the attempted bank robbery, which occurred at 8:30 a.m. at the TD Bank on West Road. Butler's age is unlisted and his last known address is in Baltimore, Md., police said. However, he told police that he presently has no permanent address. According to police, Butler presented a note to the teller that stated he had a weapon. Butler, however, did not have a weapon, police said. Three DUI Arrests, Stolen Baseball Equipment Among Recent Police Activity

Newtown Township Police reported three DUIs, a Publisher's Clearing House scam and a theft of baseball equipment.

Newtown Township Police reported the following recent incidents: Friday April 12 At approximately 11:30 a.m., police received a report from a student of Bucks County Community College who said while she was on campus the day before, she discovered that her wallet containing her identification and $175 was missing from her purse. The victim told police she is unsure if the wallet was lost or stolen.  Around 9:30 p.m., a motorist called police to report a child’s bicycle along the road of Township Line Road.  An officer responded to the area and recovered the bike, which is being stored at police headquarters in hopes that the owner can identify and retrieve it, police said. Men on Probation Found in Society Place with Drug Paraphernalia, Police Say

Two men who were found sleeping in the back of a car Tuesday morning at Society Place were on probation and in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Two men who were found sleeping in the backseat of car parked in Society Place were taken to Bucks County Prison Tuesday after police allegedly found drug paraphernalia in the car. Both men were on probation and a warrant authorizing police to transport them both to Bucks County Prison was issued. According to police, shortly after 8:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to the parking lot in Society Place for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Responding officers said they located the described vehicle and found two men sleeping in the backseat. Stolen Wallet Found on Roadside by Boy Scout, Police Say

A DUI, theft from a vending machine and stolen wallet are among the recent incidents reported by the Newtown Township Police Department.

Newtown Township police reported the following recent activity: At approximately 10:15 p.m. Friday police stopped a motorist on South Sycamore Street after observing the driver commit several vehicle code violations.  At the stop, the officer arrested the driver, a 51-year-old New Hope woman, for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.  She was transported to Saint Mary Medical Center, where she agreed to submit blood for chemical testing.  Police said charges of DUI are pending the results of the blood work. Shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the Sunoco Service Station on Washington Avenue for a report that someone had stolen money from a vending machine on the property. Police Respond to Two Car Accidents Tuesday in Wrightstown

Police responded to an accident at 4:40 on Windy Bush and Pineville roads and then another around 6 p.m. on Durham Road.

There were two car accidents in Wrightstown Township Tuesday during rush hour, Newtown Township Police confirmed today. According to police, a two-car accident occurred at about 4:40 p.m. at Route 232 (Windy Bush Road) and Pineville Road.  Police said preliminary findings indicate that the driver of a Mazda was traveling west on Pineville Road and failed to stop for the stop sign. Police said the driver of the Mazda hit a car traveling north on Route 232, causing the car to roll over multiple times. The car came to rest on its roof and the driver was taken to the hospital by a family member. The accident remains under investigation, police said. Woman Charged After Driving Stolen Car, Police Say

According to Newtown Township Police Department, Alyssa Stout of Winding Lane was charged with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle after she was seen driving a car that had been reported stolen.

A 20-year-old Newtown Township woman was arrested March 22 after police said she was driving a car that had been reported stolen. According to Newtown Township Police Department, Alyssa Stout, of Winding Lane, was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. that day and charged with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle.  Police said a detective observed Stout driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty that had been reported stolen from Philadelphia. She was seen driving the car in the parking lot of the Newtown Shopping Center, police said. At the time of the arrest, Stout told police that she had received the vehicle as a present from her father.  Officials from Newtown Township Police Department said the incident is still under investigation …
