Teens Involved in Fiery Wreck at Tyler State Park [Updated]

Two teenage girls from Levittown were involved in a scary wreck at Tyler State Park in Newtown last week. The driver is suspected of driving drunk.

  Two teenage girls from Levittown were involved in a fiery car wreck at Tyler State Park last week. The girls are suspected of being drunk at the time. The driver, a 19-year-old female, and the lone passenger, a 16-year-old female, appeared intoxicated and gave the emergency workers a hard time in the moments after the crash, police said. The driver failed a breathalyzer test at the scene and was taken to St. Mary Medical Center for further testing, the results of which have not yet be received by police. The passenger of the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by EMTs. Teens Fighting, Theft from Vehicles & More

Take a look at the calls police in Newtown and Wrightstown responded to recently.

  Friday, August 31 Police were dispatched to the Village at Newtown South shopping center for a report of approximately 20 teens were fighting while others were video taping the fight. Upon arrival at around 8 p.m., officers observed close to 100 juveniles congregating in the area. The teens were dispersed without further incident.  Saturday, September 1 At approximately 12:20 p.m., a resident of Sequoia Drive reported that sometime Thursday or Friday night an unknown actor entered her vehicle while it was parked in her driveway. Police: Dumpsters Overturned, Fence Downed at Shopping Center

Police responded to a messy call behind the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center recently.

  Newtown police responded to a trashy call behind the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center on Friday. Officers received word that trash dumpsters behind the shopping center had been overturned at 8:50 p.m. A caller reported that several youths were seen in the area just before the incident, police said. Responding police found three dumpsters overturned and a downed construction fence at the site of the Sarcone’s Deli fire. The caller told police that the juveniles seen loitering in the area headed toward Council Rock High School North. Authorities Investigate Burglary in Newtown Walk

Subject(s) burglarized one home and tried to enter a neighboring residence before an alarm was activated.

  Newtown police confirm that they are investigating a burglary which occurred last Friday evening in the Newtown Walk development. The home was broken into between 7 and 10 p.m. last Friday through a screen that was pryed off a second-floor back window, according to an email sent to residents of the development. The point of entry was above the house's laundry room. The residents reported no damage to the inside of the home, but gold jewelry was taken. Police were alerted when an alarm at a neighboring residence was activated when someone attempted to enter the nearby home. Police Look for Masked Subject in Newtown Township [Updated]

Police Tuesday night asked residents for more information on a man acting strange and wearing a mask in Newtown Township.

  Thursday, 5:32 p.m.: "The masked subject has not been located," a police official told Patch Thursday afternoon. "Officers have been searching the wooded area at various times throughout the day with negative results," Wednesday, 12:13 a.m.: Officers from Newtown Township have been probing reports of a suspicious masked person in the area near the Providence Court cul-de-sac. The suspicious subject is described to be tall, dressed in black and wearing a white mask, police said. Police reported Tuesday night that a subject has run away when approached. So far, police have received information that the masked subject has been spotted in the wooded area behind the neighborhood and in the retention basin. Officers have not located the …

Theft Reported Years After Incident

Police are working to recover several hundred dollars.

  It's almost too strange to believe. Newtown Township police are working to recover several hundred dollars that was alleged to be stolen at the Newtown 7-Eleven about two years ago. The victim of the theft told police that she didn’t report details of the incident when it happened years ago because the people she suspected of taking cash from the console of her car were friends of a family member, police reported. The amount of cash taken is estimated to be more than $600.  The woman, an Upper Makefield resident, reported the theft to police last Tuesday. Car Struck on First Day of School, Fraud & More

  Monday, August 27 A resident of Snapdragon Drive came to Police Headquarters at 1:20 pm to report that several fraudulent checks had been drawn on his bank account. The victim told the officer that the checks totaled an amount more than $2,500.  The account was closed and officers have begun the investigation with assistance from the bank.   Tuesday, August 28 Shortly before 5 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Kirkwood Drive for a report of what sounded like fireworks or gunshots in the area. The area was checked and officers made contact with a man who said the noise may have been some juveniles shoot paintball guns to the rear of his property. Ambulance Responding to Emergency Involved in Hit-Run Crash

An ambulance responding to a medical call struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the accident in Newtown Township this week.

  Police are looking for a vehicle that struck an ambulance responding to an emergency call with its lights and siren activated in Newtown Township. No serious injuries were reported by police in the crash that happened Tuesday evening at the intersection of South Sycamore Street and Swamp Road. Statements from the driver of the ambulance and evidence at the scene indicated the striking vehicle was driving on Swamp Road when the accident occurred. Police said traffic at the intersection had stopped for the ambulance and that the left front end of hit-and-run vehicle struck the right rear of the ambulance. Cops Cause Summer Bummer for Teens

Police found a group of teens using water from a substation to create a slip and slide.

  Nearly two dozen teens thought it was a good idea to create a slip and slide behind a water company substation in the 400 block of Eagle Road. Police didn’t feel the same way. A patrol unit discovered a vehicle parked in the driveway of a the light-colored water substation’s driveway Wednesday night at 9:45 p.m and began to investigate, police said. As the officer investigated the car, an 18-year-old male approached the officer and identified himself as the owner of the vehicle. The teen is reported to be a nearby resident, according to police. Suspicious Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

A 28-year-old man was arrested for a warrant after he was suspected of sleeping in a backyard.

  A man who was suspected of sleeping in the backyard of a Tyler Walk residence was found to have an outstanding warrant and turned over to members of the sheriff’s department, Newtown police reported. Vidal Torres-Toro, 28, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody by Newtown Township police officers Sunday afternoon. Earlier on Sunday, a “suspicious male,” who was later determined by officers to be Torres-Toro, was reported by a resident of sleeping in the backyard of a East Park Road home, police said. When police made contact with Torres-Toro Sunday afternoon, an officer ran the subject's name through a national database and found he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
