A new restaurant joins the Newtown dining scene Wednesday. Mamita's, which will serve traditional Latin American food and fresh margarita mixes, is opening the doors of its Cambridge Lane restaurant at 11 a.m. The restaurant, located next to Ota-Ya, will serve everything from tacos to paella, enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, empanadas and more. This is local Chef Francisco Argueta's third restaurant. He is the owner of Florentino’s and Francisco’s on the River. A signature element to the eatery will be its fresh margarita mixes. "At Mamita’s, we don’t say BYOB, we say BYOT where the “T” stands for Tequila," the website says. Renovations are underway in preparation for Mamita's, a new restaurant that will serve traditional Latin American food and fresh margarita mixes. Chef Francisco Argueta, owner of Florentino’s and Francisco’s on the River, is opening a third restaurant, which will be located on Cambridge Lane next to Ota-Ya. The restaurant is on track to open May 1, according to a restaurant representative. Remodeling is currently taking place in the space, which was formerly occupied by La Nuova Vita pizzeria. The fifth Annual NBPA Business Expo will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Newtown Athletic Club.
The Newtown Business and Professional Association will “Eat, Meet and Greet” at its Fifth Annual Business Expo, which will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Newtown Athletic Club. The theme of this year’s expo is Eat, Meet and Greet and will focus on NBPA’s member restaurants. The event is free and open to the public. The expo will feature samples of local cuisine and coupons from several area restaurants, including Palate, The Green Parrot, The Temperance House, La Stalla and more. Newtown definitely needs a little variety when it comes to restaurant choices. I'm very much looking forward to trying Mamita's!! BYOT is a great concept- Lolita, on 13th Street in Philadelphia, is a perfect example of how successful this can be!   more ›
