Local Organization Raises $47K For Pancreatic Cancer Research

Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer has given $47,000 to the Pancreatic Cancer Surgical Research Fund at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer, a Newtown-based nonprofit, has donated $47,000 to the Pancreatic Cancer Surgical Research Fund at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The $47,000 was raised through the annual Run Over Cancer 5K held every July in Newtown, as well as fundraising efforts from the Love for Life Dragon Boat team, which competed in the Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival in October.   The timing of the donation coincides with Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, which is November.  The check was presented Thursday, as Fund A Cure board members visited the hospital's Pancreatic Cancer Research Team, led by Dr. Charles Yeo and Dr. Jonathan Brody.  The $47,000 donation is $17,000 more – or 64 percent…

Local Dragon Boat Team Racing to Cure Pancreatic Cancer

The team will compete in the Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival in celebration of Kevin Edmonds, who died from pancreatic cancer earlier this year.

Local residents are fielding a dragon boat team to compete this weekend in the hopes of raising awareness about pancreatic cancer.   The team, "A Love For Life," will compete in the 11th annual Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival, which takes place this Saturday on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park.   A Love For Life is racing in celebration of Kevin Edmonds, who passed away earlier this year from pancreatic cancer. He was 51.  The money raised will go to Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer. So far, more than $7,000 has been raised for the cause. Fund A Cure Makes Donation To Thomas Jefferson University Hospital

The $30,000 donation was raised through the annual Run Over Cancer 5K held every July in Newtown.

  The Newtown-based nonprofit Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer has donated $30,000 to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Pancreatic Cancer Surgical Research Fund. The $30,000 was raised through the annual Run Over Cancer 5K held every July in Newtown. This year’s donation represents a 100 percent increase from last year's donation of $15,000.  Since 2009, Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer has donated a total of $55,000 to the pancreatic cancer research team at Jefferson.
