Fischer-Price is recalling approximately 800,000 Newborn Rock n' Play Sleepers. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall, "Mold can develop between the removable seat cushion and the hard plastic frame of the sleeper when it remains wet/moist or is infrequently cleaned, posing a risk of exposure to mold to infants sleeping in the product." Mold growth is not present at time of purchase but can grow after use of the product. There have been 600 reports of mold on the product. The product has been sold in mass merchandise stores nationwide and online since September 2009. Consumers should check for mold under the removable seat cushion. Carter's-branded and Sassy-branded Hug N' Tug Baby toys are being recalled for a potential choking hazard. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the beads inside the clear plastic ball at the center of the toy can be released and pose a choking hazard to young children. There have been 12 reports for the beads being released on the Sassy-branded toys. There have been no reports to date on the Carter's-branded toys. The toys were sold at mass merchandisers such as Toys R Us and Target, specialty stores, and online retailers such as Amazon.com between July 2012 and October 2012 for the Sassy-branded models and from August 2011 and October 2012 for the Carter's-branded models. Information from the US Food and Drug Administration: Matrixx Initiatives is voluntarily recalling 1 lot of Zicam® Extreme Congestion Relief nasal gel. The company is taking this step after finding a small amount of Burkholderia cepacia in a single sample of the product taken from the affected lot. The problem was detected during a routine review at the manufacturing facility. Tests on additional samples from the same lot have shown no evidence of the organism. Burkholderia cepacia poses little medical risk to healthy individuals. However, Burkholderia cepacia in a nasal spray could cause upper airway colonization and secondarily lead to respiratory infections in individuals with a compromised immune system or those with chronic lung …

Home Depot is recalling approximately 3,700 mugs sold during October 2012 for fire hazard. The Homer All-Purpose Bucket Mug's silver colored cumulated bucket handle below the rim can spark when used in the microwave, which can pose a fire hazard to consumers, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission's recall. Consumers should stop using the mugs immediately and return it to a Home Depot store for a full refund. The Ultimate Meatless Burger was sold in Pennsylvania, as well as NY, CT, FL, IL, MD, IN, WI, VA, NJ and DE. Falafel was sold nationwide. Boulder Ice Cream has announced a recall of its ice cream and gelato products manufactured using peanut ingredients. The peanut ingredients used in the products have been recalled by Sunland, Inc. of possible salmonella contamination. Boulder Ice Cream Peanut butter pints, Sorano Gelato Chocolate Peanut Butter pints and some food service products are being recalled because the peanut products have have been sourced from Sunland, Inc. and be contaminated with Salmonella. KidCo is recalling 220,000 PeaPod and PeaPod Plus Travel Beds as infants and young children can roll off the edge of the inflatable air mattress and become trapped between the mattress and fabric side of the tent, and suffocate. "CPSC is aware of a death of a 5-month-old boy in December 2011 in New York, New York, who was found with his face pressed against the side wall of the tent. The cause of death was not determined," according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall. The travel beds are "marketed for use by infants from birth to 3+ years, depending on the model." Powermate is recalling approximately 7,700 of its Sx 5500 portable generators for a fire hazard. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall, the fuel filter on this generator allows gasoline to leak, posing a fire hazard. There have been 51 reports of fuel filter leakage. No fires or injuries have been reported to date. The portable generators were sold exclusively at Home Depot in the northeast, mid-west, and southeast between February 2012 and August 2012. Information from the Food and Drug Administration: Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is recalling approximately 31,000 lbs. of Wegmans Organic Spinach and Spring Mix sold in 5 oz. (UPC 77890 16437) and 11 oz. (UPC 77890 16411) clam shell packages in the produce department of its stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts between October 14 and November 1 due to possible E.coli O157 H:7. The product is supplied to Wegmans by State Garden, Inc. based in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
