A 5K race is being organized in memory of Benjamin Wheeler, the son of a Council Rock graduate who died in last week's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. Fran Lobis-Wheeler is a member of Council Rock’s class of 1985. According to information provided by the Council Rock School District, current and past members of the CR North Cross Country Team are raising funds for the Wheeler family by sponsoring the 5K race in Benjamin’s memory. The race will be held Sunday, Dec. 30 at Council Rock High School North. Registration is $20 and can be done online by clicking here. A memorial service will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21 for a Memorial Mass. Interment will be private.
