The cause of a fire at the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center in April that completely gutted Sarcone's Deli remains undetermined.
The damage from a fire at a Newtown Township shopping center may have been repaired but the cause has yet to be determined, according to township officials. Newtown Township's fire marshal said he has yet to confirm the cause of the fire, which occurred at Sarcone’s Deli last Wednesday.
The cause of last week's fire at the Newtown Villages Shopping Center is still under investigation by township officials. Newtown Township Fire Marshal Don Harris said on Tuesday he has yet to confirm the cause of the fire, which occurred at Sarcone’s Deli shortly after 1:30 a.m. last Wednesday. The fire caused damage to adjacent businesses, including Marco's Pizza and Nail Perfection and Spa. No one was injured in the overnight blaze. Firefighters from the Newtown Fire Association, Northampton Volunteers Fire Company and Upper Makefield Fire Company had the fire under control within an hour. According to sources, Sarcone’s Deli had gone out of business a few weeks ago.

An overnight fire at Sarcone’s Deli has caused severe damage to a portion of the Newtown Villages Shopping Center on South Eagle Road. Just hours after the blaze, police tape enclosed the shopping center from the deli, which according to sources had gone out of business a few weeks ago, across Marco’s Pizza and to Nail Perfection and Spa. All three businesses have been damaged as a result of the fire. The fire broke out just after 1:30 a.m., according to the Newtown Fire Association. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
