Council Rock Adopts Suicide Response Policy

Board approves policy that restricts memorials and dedications of suicide victims

In response to the Services for Teens at Risk for Suicide (STAR) report, the Council Rock School Board last week voted to establish district policies dealing with teen suicides. The board approved a policy that restricts memorials of suicide deaths, including monuments, tree plantings, or plaques. In addition, yearbooks cannot be dedicated to suicide victims, the policy states. The policy restricts school-sponsored memorial ceremonies or assemblies for suicide victims.
