The Crossings Animal Sanctuary is holding a donation drive this week in honor of two victims of last month’s shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The donation drive will benefit The Animal Center, a nonprofit animal rescue organization in Newtown, Conn. The idea for the donation drive came from a request made by the family of Catherine Hubbard, one of the children killed in the school shooting. The Hubbard family asked that donations in their daughter’s memory be made to The Animal Center. In addition to honoring the memory of Catherine Hubbard, the donation drive is also in memory of Benjamin Wheeler, a 6-year-old victim. My personal understanding is that The Crossings Animal Sanctuary is not a shelter at all. They are raising funds to build the first no-kill animal sanctuary in Bucks County, and I appreciate them for that.
