Charges Filed in Fatal Accident

Monroe Leonard Tanner IV, 18, has been charged with homicide by vehicle in the Dec. 8 accident that killed Cameron Smithwick.

An Ivyland teenager has been charged in a fatal accident that left one dead last December.  Monroe Leonard Tanner IV, 18, has been charged with homicide by vehicle in the Dec. 8 accident that killed Cameron Smithwick, 19, of Ivyland. Smithwick, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the one-care accident on Old Jacksonville Road, attended Council Rock North before moving to Texas. According to a report published on phillyburbs.com, Tanner's blood tested positive for ingredients found in marijuana. McDonald's Fundraiser to Benefit Smithwick Family Fund

The 19-year-old former Council Rock North student died last week in a car accident in Northampton Township.

The McDonald's in Richboro is holding a fundraiser Tuesday to benefit the Smithwick Family Fund. Money from the fund will be used to pay for the costs of the funeral for Cameron Smithwick, who died Dec. 8 in a car accident in Northampton Township. Smithwick, who worked at the McDonald's, attended Council Rock North before moving back to Texas to be with his father. He had recently returned the area and was enrolled at Penn State. All proceeds from sales between 4 and 8 p.m. will go to the fund to help the family. "Cameron was a young man with the innate ability to make anyone laugh and smile whether or not they were having a good or bad day. Cause of Fatal Accident Under Investigation

Council Rock Community Mourning After Saturday's Accident

One former Council Rock School District student was killed in a car accident Saturday, and four current students were injured.

A fatal car wreck in Northampton Saturday afternoon has left the Council Rock community mourning 19-year-old Cameron Smithwick, who died in the accident on Old Jacksonville Road. Smithwick attended Council Rock North before moving to Texas, NBC10 reported.  The accident injured four other teens in the Council Rock School District, according to the Northampton Township Police Department.
