The fundraising event will be held at Council Rock North on Nov. 24
Council Rock North boys and girls basketball teams are hosting a "Hoops Mania" night to help fight cancer. The event, to be held Nov. 24 at 5 p.m., will benefit Coaches Vs. Cancer, a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. It is free and open to the public. Coaches Vs. Cancer "empowers basketball coaches, their teams and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer," according to the American Cancer Society website. The Council Rock North versus South football game that was originally scheduled for Friday night will now be held this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be held at Walk Snyder Stadium and the Council Rock North band will still to perform at half time, according to information forwarded from the district. Students attending Friday's football game began fighting at the nearby shopping center, police said.
A fight involving “numerous juveniles” during a football game Friday at Council Rock High School North required township police to call in assistance from neighboring police departments. Newtown Township Police were dispatched to Wendy’s at about 8 p.m. Friday after a passing motorist called to report there were numerous juveniles fighting. “Arriving officers observed crowds of juveniles who had been attending a football game at Council Rock High School North moving between the high school and the shopping center,” according to police. The Council Rock High School North football team boosters are seeking support from local businesses. The organization is looking for local merchants to support the team by purchasing an advertisement in the annual program, which is distributed to hundreds of local families.
