For 364 days out of the year, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) spends its time tracking airplanes, missiles, space ships—anything flying near the United States and Canada. But on Christmas Eve, a team of volunteers spends the night tracking a very special pilot: Santa Claus. "We are the only organization that has the technology, the qualifications and the people to do it," NORAD said on its website. With Thanksgiving at our feet, there are two important questions looming. First, what are we going to do with all the leftovers? Second, where will we get our Christmas tree? Well, the second is only relevant if you don't pull your plastic tree out of storage every year. So what'll it be this year? A REALLY live tree, with root ball and all? Pre-cut or cut-your-own? And what about the type? You could go with a balsam or a Douglass fir or some other type of pine. But here's the big question: WHERE will you get it? Do you have a place you go to every year, some sort of family tradition or do you just stop when the mood hits you?

Everyone knows what belongs on the Thanksgiving table - the turkey, the vegetables, the rolls. But when it comes to wine, some people can get intimidated. Never fear, says Kim Graziano, event planner at Chaddsford Winery. "It's such a fun time to try different wines, maybe local wines you haven't tried before," she said. She said the classic dishes like turkey and ham call for a white wine that's crisp, dry and light. Specifically, she suggests looking at a riesling wine, but make sure it's dry. That means a German, Austrian or Alsatian style - check the label on the back. Sauvignon blanc is another good choice. With 10 days to go until Thanksgiving, several area retailers are all decked out for the holidays.
It seems to be the annual lament -- holiday decorations just keep coming out earlier and earlier. Although that's probably not the case. They keep coming out at the same time each year but many of us are startled by their appearance every time. The kids may not even have polished off their Halloween candy yet but the trees and lights have started sprouting up around town and at the nearby malls. Today, we spotted Christmas and various holiday decorations at several Newtown retailers, including grocery stores, clothing shops and even pet stores. How soon is too soon to deck the halls? Thanks to some extraordinary hard work, we will all be able to enjoy the Hatboro Holiday Parade's 51st edition Sunday afternoon. According to the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce, this year's parade will feature more than 100 entries - fire trucks, string bands, marching bands and Patch. Hey, we love a good party as much as anyone. A Patch crew will be walking the parade route and we hope you'll say hello. We'll be handing out candy and Patch swag - pens, magnets, maybe a few t-shirts - so flag us down. Two important tips. First, the chamber is expecting about 50,000 people, so get into downtown Hatboro early and find a good spot along York Road.
