BCFA hosts ‘Composting: Do Something HOT with Fall Leaves’ on Wednesday, October 2

Gardeners:
Don’t let autumn’s advent put you in a bad mood. Instead, thank Mother Nature
for the bounty she’s dispensing. All those falling leaves are as good as gold
when it comes to preparing for the next planting season months down the road.

The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance and Newtown Township Parks & Rec are presenting “Composting: Do Something HOT with Fall Leaves” on Wednesday, October 2, from 7:00 till 8:45pm in the Newtown Township Community Room.

Penn
State Master Gardener Donna DiMella kicks off the evening with a PowerPoint
presentation; she will also have composting how-to handouts for audience
members. Back again for another small-panel Q&A on tips and techniques are gardening
experts Jackie Ricotta and Malaika Spencer.

Dr.Ricotta is associate professor of Horticulture at Delaware Valley College and Spencer farms at Roots to River Farm, a four-season CSA in Solebury Township.

Registration is
requested at the door for this free event. The Newtown Township Building, 100
Municipal Drive, Newtown, 18940, is on Route 413, 3.7 miles south of Pineville
and 1.7 miles north of the Newtown Bypass.
