Local Yoga Studio Helping to Heal Newtown, Conn.

All proceeds from Yogasphere's donation classes on Sundays and Thursdays this month will go towards healing Newtown, Conn.

A Newtown, Pa. yoga studio is getting behind an effort to heal Newtown, Conn.

Elle Kaplan, local resident and co-owner of Yogapshere, is planning to attend the first Newtown Yoga Festival.  The festival, which will feature yoga, kids activities, music and more, will be held Aug. 24 in Newtown, Conn.

Not only is Kaplan attending the festival, but she is hoping to raise money to help the cause. All proceeds from Yogasphere's donation classes on Sundays and Thursdays this month will go towards healing Newtown.

Kaplan said she is attending the festival in support of world-renowned yoga teacher Seane Corn, her friend and mentor. Corn and Beryl Bender Birch will be leading yoga practices during the event. 

“I am honored to be a part of this,” Kaplan said.

All proceeds from the yoga festival will benefit the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation, an organization aimed at healing the community after last year’s elementary school shooting. 

Donation classes at Yogasphere are held at 8 p.m. Thursdays and 7 p.m. Sundays. A $5 donation is requested.  Click here for details.
