In the Holiday Spirit? Here's How You Can Give Locally

If you're feeling generous this holiday season, here's how you can give locally.

Are you feeling in the holiday spirit? Here are some local charitable efforts that need your help this holiday season:

GIVING TUESDAY
What: More than 60 Bucks County non-profit organizations that have joined together to participate in Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3. Local charities that serve everybody from the poor and homeless to sick children and local artists have formed a coalition to urge the general public to give a little back to the community.
Where: Donations can be made on the Giving Tuesday Bucks website. Simply go to the list of participating non-profits, click on the 'Give Now' button, which will take you to each organizations donation page, and make an electronic payment.

TOYS FOR TOTS
What: The Toys for Tots program, organized by Marine Corps Reserve, provides toys to children in need during the holiday season.

Deadline: Through Dec. 13

UNITED WAY OF BUCKS COUNTY
What: The United Way of Bucks County is holding a gift card drive for teens whose families are struggling to get gifts for their children during the holidays.
Where: All gift cards can be dropped off at the Fairless Hills office at 413 Hood Blvd, Fairless Hills.
Deadline: Through Dec. 18. 

ANGEL TREE

What:The Angel Tree Project provides holiday gifts for Council Rock families in need. The gift requests of local children and their families are placed on a tag that looks like an angel. Recipients are identified by participation in the school lunch program.
Where: Trees are located at the Newtown Post Office and the Northampton Library
Deadline: Gifts should be returned by Dec. 13.

TOYS FOR CHOP
What: The Matthew Renk Foundation is donating toys to children who will be spending their holidays at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. To view a wish list go to www.matthewrenkfoundation.org.
Where: Drop off at 4210 Upper Mt Rd., Buckingham. Miracolo Hair Studio, 296 N Main St. in Doylestown, will also have a donation box.
Deadline: Through Dec. 19.

PJs FOR KIDS
What: PJ’s for Kids is a donation campaign by Kathy Emmons, the proprietor of Circa Classics Distinctive Consignments in Plumsteadville. The effort aims to help supply local children with new pajamas for the holidays.  Kathy, a prior foster parent, knows the immediate need for sleepwear upon the child’s first night in foster care.  
Where: Drop off at Circa Classics Distinctive Consignments, 5870 Easton Road, Plumsteadville
Deadline: Through Dec. 15
