Hearing on Swim Club Townhomes Postponed Until July

A hearing for a townhome proposal at the Newtown Swim Club will be held July 24 instead of June 26.

The township hearing on a proposal for townhomes at the Newtown Swim Club property has been postponed until July.

The hearing was initially scheduled for June 26 but will now be held at the Board of Supervisors July 24 meeting, according to information from the township.

“The PRD Hearing for the Newtown Swim Club Townhome project will NOT be heard at the June 26, 2013 Board of Supervisors Meeting because the applicant and their attorney are not available for the Planning Commission meeting scheduled before the Board of Supervisors meeting. The Planning Commission will take up the matter in July and it will also be  scheduled for the second July meeting of the Board of Supervisors on July 24, 2013,” the township announced on its website.

Fifty six townhouses are proposed for the Newtown Swim Club property once it closes after this summer. The developer, County Builders, had previously filed an application for a 56-pad trailer park.

However, the trailer park proposal was met with an uproar of dissent from neighboring residents, who said such a development would jeopardize property values in the Headley, Wiltshire Walk and Raintree communities, among others.

In response to the residents’ concerns, the township supervisors in April agreed to a series of parameters set forth by County Builders to construct townhomes instead of a mobile home park on property.
