Man Facing More Burglary Charges

Also, Newtown Township police responded to several other calls recently.

 

Aloysius Carroll, 22, of Newtown, is facing more charges related to burglaries he is alleged to have comitted in both the township and borough, Phillyburbs.com reported.

Shortly before 11 a.m., a resident of Newtown Crossing came to police headquarters to report that his wallet had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle. Around 3:45 pm the man notified police that he found his wallet in his home. 

Tuesday, July 17

At approximately 1 a.m., a resident of Diamond Drive reported that there were juveniles using a baseball bat to knock mailboxes down.  The caller told police that the juveniles then ran to vehicles parked near the apartment buildings. The responding officer observed six damaged mailboxes on the street.  Around 7:30 am one of the residents called police to report that his damaged mailbox cost him $250.00.   

Around 1:15 a.m., while on patrol an officer observed a motorist commit multiple vehicle code violations and performed a traffic stop on Diamond Drive.  At the stop it was determined that the driver, an 18 year-old female who resides in Northampton Township, had consumed alcohol while under the age of 21. She was taken into custody, transported to Saint Mary Medical Center to have blood drawn for testing then transported to police headquarters where she was release to friends.  Charges are pending the results of the blood test.  Two passengers in the car, both 18 years-old will receive citations in the mail charging them with underage drinking.

Shortly after 8 a.m., police responded to a business on Friends Lane when an employee called to report that their computer system had been compromised. The caller told the officer that when she logged on to her computer a message popped up stating if she wanted her files back she was to send money through Western Union to a specified location.  She had contacted tech support and was informed that this is an encrypted virus and there was nothing that could have prevented the virus. 

Wednesday July 18th

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a resident of Canterbury Court called police to report that $200.00 in cash and a woman's skirt had been taken from her vehicle. The caller further stated that the theft occurred about eight days ago, but she didn’t report it until after she found out one of her neighbor’s had also been a victim of theft from a vehicle. 

Police were dispatched to the area of Richboro Road near the Newtown Bypass around 5:50 p.m. for a report of a power line down in the roadway.  The first officer on scene observed that the wire was smoldering, the westbound lanes of Richboro Road were closed for safety reasons. PECO was notified of the situation and responded to deal with the power line.   

Thursday, July 19

Moments before 9 a.m., a resident of Daffodil Place called police to report that on Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 pm she was inside her home when she heard the garage door open.  She told the officer that a garage door opener was in her vehicle parked in the driveway. After she heard the door open, she closed her inside door and yelled that she was going to call the police. The garage door opener was the only item missing from the vehicle.

Friday, July 20

Around 12:30 a.m., police were dispatched to Swamp Road near Twining Bridge Road for a report of a one-vehicle traffic accident.  Upon arrival officers spoke with the driver, a 21 year-old woman from Levittown, who said that she swerved to avoid striking a deer in the roadway and her vehicle slid off the road striking a utility pole.  An ambulance was requested since the driver was complaining of pain from the seat belts and the vehicle was towed from the scene.  At approximately 2:20 am police and fire personnel were dispatched to the same location for a report of a utility pole on fire.  The power in the area went out and the fire went out and PECO was on scene to restore the power. 

Police responded to Mill Creek Road around 5:30 a.m. for a complaint that a fallen tree was blocking the roadway. Responding officers were able to remove the road hazard without incident. 

At approximately 7:35 a.m., police responded to the construction site at the Newtown Athletic Club for a report of criminal mischief that occurred overnight.  Upon arrival the officer met with an employee of the company that owns the equipment in question and learned that when the crew arrived to begin work they discovered that two Trackhoes and a bulldozer had been tampered with and were running. Some of the machines had metal shavings in the valve covers and one machine had a key broken off in the ignition. The situation remains under investigation.   

Saturday, July 21

Police were dispatched to Tulip Drive in Newtown Grant around 2:20 a.m. for a report that a male subject was attempting to flag down motorists. The responding officer made contact with two male subjects and determined that they had consumed alcohol while under the age of 21. The men, a 17 year-old and a 20 year-old, both from Fairless Hills, were released to a friend after police contacted the father of the juvenile involved and received authorization to do so. Both subjects will receive citations in the mail charging them with underage drinking.  

Shortly before 11:00 a.m. police responded to Teaberry Lane for a complaint of an abandoned vehicle parked on the street. The responding officer ran the registration number through PennDot and determined that the registration was current and the car belongs to one of the neighbors to the person who called in the complaint. 

Police were dispatched to the area of Jericho Valley Drive and Warner Way for a report of loud music around 2:30 p.m. The responding officer located a large party with a live band being held on Windy Bush Road, but the music didn’t seem excessive. The officer spoke with the homeowner, to advise him of the complaint, the host told the officer that the event would conclude by 7:00 p.m.  No further complaints were received. 

Just before 5 p.m., a resident of Sawmill Lane called police to report that she had received a phone call from a male with a foreign accent who told her that he was calling from a Windows Support Center.  The caller asked the woman to log onto her computer and activate a specific web site.  The computer owner terminated the call. 

Just after 7 p.m., police received a complaint that there were ATVs being driven along Washington Avenue in Wycombe.  The caller felt it was creating a traffic hazard and further stated that it is an ongoing problem.  Responding officers did not locate the ATVs. 

Sunday, July 22

Police were dispatched to the F.O.P Lodge on Mill Creek Road shortly 4 p.m. to investigate a report of a vehicle that was heavily damaged and had been abandoned in the woods there. Responding officers located the vehicle and discovered that several trees had been damaged.  Officers began efforts to determine the owner of the car. Around 10:00 police were dispatched to the same location for a report of several teens on the property.  Officer made contact with the teens and the situation remains under investigation.  

Around 11:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the Tyler Walk Development for juveniles swimming in the pool. Upon arrival, the officer located four subjects at the pool. The subjects were interviewed and they all admitted that they were all swimming in the pool, they will each receive a citation in the mail charging them with disorderly conduct.
