Concert in the Bark Fun for Humans & Pets

The Concert in the Bark, which supports Focus on Homeless Animals, is set for this Saturday and will feature local blues artist Gina Sicilia.

Looking for a fun event where you can bring your pets, chillout and listen to a nationally recognized musical artist?

If so, Concert in the Bark this Saturday at the Middletown Grange Fairground might just the place for you.

The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. and supports Focus on Homeless Animals, a Bucks County-based animal rescue charity based in Washington Crossing.

Aside from music from nationally-known blues artist and Newtown resident Gina Sicilia, the event will feature pet costume contest, search and rescue dog demonstrations, booths manned by various area animal organizations, raffle contest and (human) food from Outback Steakhouse, said organizer and Focus on Homeless Animals president Gloria Aceti.

“It should be a fun day out with your family and pets,” said Aceti. “Plus, it supports a worthwhile cause.”

Focus on Homeless Animals will be using the event to raise funds to help take care of pets in need. The organization helps spay/neuter, microchip, groom, get medical treatments for the animals they help, Aceti said. The average cost to the charity when it takes in an animal is between $350 and $500.

Some of the money raised will be placed in a fund set aside to help build the Bucks County Animal Refuge. The refuge is intended to be built in sections and will help save more animals, Aceti told Patch.

“The new facility can really increase the amount of animals we can help,” the dedicated no-kill rescue founder said.

Since Aceti started Focus on Homeless Animals in 1999, she said the group has helped hundreds and hundreds of animals. She keeps a photo collage of the animals the group has helped posted on her wall to remind her of the good the group has done.

Tickets for the concert cost $20 if you order before Saturday through the Focus on the Animals website.

The cost of purchasing tickets at the door is $20.

Aceti said the event is rain or shine. She also suggested attendees bring chairs or blankets to relax on during the outdoor event.
