Mayor to Guest Bartend, Quilt Show, Marching Band Invitational
Plus, Pennswood Village is holding a bike collection for charity and Newtown Historic Association is hosting a walking tour of Newtown Cemetery.
Here's a look at what's going on this weekend around Newtown:
MARCHING BAND INVITATIONAL
What: Six area marching bands will compete in the Third Annual Council Rock Marching Band Invitational.
When/where: Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Council Rock High School North
Cost: $8
QUILT SHOW
What: The Newtown Quilters Guild's biennial quilt show will feature 100 quilts.
When/where: Saturday and Sunday at Maureen M. Welch Elementary School, 750 New Road, Churchville. The show will be open 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Cost: $7; children 12 and under are free
MAYOR TO GUEST BARTEND
What: Borough Mayor Dennis O'Brien will be the guest bartender at the Brick Hotel.
When/where: Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Brick Hotel.
Cost: Drink prices vary, no cover
HEART CHASE
What: The American Heart Association has teamed up with Mercer Bucks Cardiology to host this smart-phone based competition to help raise awareness and promote healthy lifestyle changes.
When/where: Saturday at 8 a.m. at Mercer Bucks Cardiology, 105 Pheasant Run.
Cost: Free
BIKE COLLECTION
What: The Pennswood Village Residents Association is hosting its annual Bike and Sewing Machine Collection Drive to benefit Bikes for the World. The nonprofit charity sends bicycles to developing countries.
When/where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at Pennswood Village, 1382 Newtown-Langhorne Rd.
Cost: A $10 per bike donation is suggested to defray the cost to ship the
items to overseas charity partners.
CEMETERY WALKING TOUR
What: The Newtown Historic Association is holding a walking tour of Newtown Cemetery
When/where: Sunday at 2 p.m. at Newtown Cemetery, E. Washington Avenue.
Cost: Free but good will donations are appreciated
